Happy Monday!
Bharat just pulled out a weapon no one's ever seen before.
Not made of steel or fire, but of strategy, smarts, and sheer scale.
This week, we're decoding one of the most unique power moves in India’s playbook. A move that could change how the world sees us - not just as a leader, but as a giant.
Let’s get into the story…
📌 Today’s Updates
India just unveiled a weapon that could revolutionize the battlefield
For the first time, India successfully tested a high-powered laser-based directed energy weapon (DEW) that shot down a drone mid-air.
Developed by DRDO’s CHESS lab, the Mk-II(A) laser system tracked and destroyed fixed-wing UAVs and even swarms — in seconds. No missiles. No ammo. Just pure laser power.
This puts India among a select group of global powers like the US, China, and Russia who’ve demonstrated such futuristic capability.
DRDO chief Samir V Kamat called it “just the beginning” and hinted at more high-energy techs on the way — like high-energy microwaves and electromagnetic pulses.
What makes this laser unique?
The laser weapon’s precision, speed (it literally fires at the speed of light), and low operational cost make it a game-changer. Not only can it neutralize multiple drones quickly, but it also slashes the need for expensive missiles and reduces collateral damage.
With drone warfare becoming a huge part of modern conflicts (as seen in Ukraine), India’s entry into the laser warfare arena could change how future battles are fought — fast, silent, and deadly.
Oh, and did we mention? This is all Made in India.
Puri Jagannath temple's flag snatched by eagle in shocking viral video
A viral video from Puri has captivated the internet, showing an eagle flying with the sacred Patitapaban Bana — the revered flag atop the Neela Chakra of the Shree Jagannath Temple.
The eagle, with the flag in its talons, circles the temple, creating a surreal and dramatic moment.
This video surfaced just ahead of the Odia New Year, sparking both awe and concern among devotees. Some view the incident as a divine sign, while others worry about the flag’s symbolic displacement.
At the Jagannath Temple, the daily ritual of changing the flag is a deeply spiritual event. A temple servitor climbs over 200 feet up the temple spire, without safety gear, to replace the flag. This ritual symbolizes devotion, courage, and faith. It is believed that Garuda Ji, Lord Vishnu’s divine vehicle, spiritually accompanies the servitor during this climb, infusing the moment with divine energy.
The flag change is not just a physical act but a spiritual renewal, with the new flag seen as a symbol of blessings for all who witness it.
For the people of Puri and millions of devotees, this ritual serves as a daily reminder of the sacred bond between the divine and the faithful and the ancient traditions that continue to shape India’s spiritual landscape. The eagle’s flight with the Patitapaban Bana adds a mystical twist to this already profound act of devotion.
Is the Waqf bill behind the Murshidabad riots? What no one’s telling you
For the second day, Murshidabad is burning.
What started after Friday prayers has now escalated into full-blown communal violence, leaving three people dead and over 150 arrested. But beneath the smoke and chaos lies a question no one's openly addressing: Is the controversial Waqf Bill playing a silent role in all this?
Violence broke out in areas like Dhulian, Suti, and Shamsherganj, prompting the Calcutta High Court to step in and push for stronger security. Paramilitary forces have now been deployed.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari claims the violence is targeted - alleging that 35 Hindu-owned shops were torched, and blaming the Mamata government for turning a blind eye.
Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, is urging calm, accusing political parties of fanning communal flames for electoral gains.
But locals paint a grim picture: homes looted, police missing for hours, and chilling warnings from rioters calling this violence “just a trailer.”
To restore order, senior police officials are conducting night patrols. But tensions are now spilling beyond Murshidabad - into North 24 Parganas and Hooghly’s Champdani.
📌 Market Updates
Emkay predicts massive market reversal by 2026
Emkay Global is optimistic about the Indian stock market and expects the Nifty 50 to hit 26,000 by March 2026.
They believe small- and mid-cap stocks will bounce back after lagging behind large-cap stocks for a while. This confidence comes from positive global developments, supportive policies by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and improving company earnings.
Globally, the 90-day pause on US tariffs has reduced fears of a recession. There’s also hope for rising commodity prices and new trade agreements, which could keep global growth steady.
On the domestic front, the RBI’s soft stance on interest rates is expected to boost consumer spending, even if government spending slows. The power and tech sectors are likely to lead India’s economic growth.
Although the Q4 FY25 results were mixed, if we exclude energy and a few outliers, things look better — revenue grew by 7.5% year-on-year, and profit after tax rose by 10.8%.
Sectors like Telecom, Healthcare, and Materials showed strong improvement in margins.
Finally, with the BSE 500’s average price-to-earnings ratio falling 21% over six months, Emkay sees this as a good time for a broad market rally.
