Hey there,
It’s Friday!
The kind of day when your to-do list is judging you, your coffee’s gone cold for the third time, and you’ve officially hit your emotional storage limit.
So, let’s talk about… The Cry Club.
Yup.
You read that right.
Mumbai has an actual club where you pay to cry.
📌 A safe space to let it all out
Whether it’s a quarter-life crisis, a heartbreak that refuses to leave, or simply being a working adult in 2025, life’s been testing everyone lately.
That’s where The Cry Club steps in.
Organized by ‘Small World,’ the same folks who bring Mumbai’s most experimental events to life - this is a judgement-free, counsellor-free meetup that encourages you to feel your feelings, without fixing them.
No therapy, no talking circles, no probing questions.
Just a soft-lit room, comforting tea, tissues on every table, and people who are also… just trying to make it through the week.
And before you ask, yes, it’s for everyone. All genders, 18+ welcome.
📌 But crying in public… isn’t that awkward?
Not here.
Because everyone who walks into The Cry Club is carrying something heavy - a mistake, a breakup, grief, regret, burnout, or maybe just the deep loneliness of being a person in a busy city.
At a recent session, people sobbed silently, some wrote in their journals, others just sipped lemon tea and sat in shared stillness.
Nobody commented.
Nobody judged.
One participant said, “It felt like hugging your younger self and telling them - it’s okay to not be okay.”
And for a city like Mumbai, where it’s hard to find space to even think, let alone cry, this is revolutionary. Especially when therapy still costs more than your monthly rent.
📌 But, why it’s needed more than ever?
You’ve seen it online, anonymous confession spaces like Reddit’s r/offmychest or X’s @Fesshole.
While they’ve become wildly popular, they often come with trolls, hate comments, and people who treat pain like content.
The Cry Club, on the other hand, offers a radical alternative - real people, real presence, real empathy.
The second rule? Everyone receives only kindness and (consensual) hugs.
And the third rule? Just show up. With your baggage.
No need to explain it. No need to make it poetic. Just come as you are.
📌 Upcoming sessions

July 27: Out of the Blue, Khar
August 3: Opa Bar and Café, Saki Naka

Maybe this isn’t your kind of thing.
But maybe, just maybe, this is the kind of softness the world needs more of.
Either way, consider this a little reminder:
You don’t have to hold it all together. Not today. Not always.
So, that’s it for today. If you enjoyed this edition, subscribe to hear from us every day!
