The Power of Asking for Help (and How It Saved My Business)
Hey folks! Welcome to another edition of Bharat.Inc, where we share how Bharat does business. So far, you all have been loving my personal journey through the business world, and I wish to continue sharing my journey with y’all.
But before I start with today’s story, let’s learn something positive today:
“Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day”
Remember that even on tough days, there are positive moments or lessons to be found. This shift in focus helps you look for silver linings, no matter how small. You learn to move forward without being weighed down by the negatives. It promotes the habit of gratitude, helping you appreciate the small wins and joys in life, which can improve your overall mood and mental health.
It also strengthens your resilience by acknowledging that difficulties are normal, but they don’t define your entire day.
Now let’s get started…

Why You Should Always Ask For Help?
Let me take you back to a time when I was drowning in unpaid invoices. You’d think the hardest part of running a business would be getting clients or delivering great work, but no—my real nemesis was something much more mundane. My problem? Getting people to pay on time.
Now, when I started, I believed that if I just worked hard and delivered quality, the rest would fall into place. I assumed payments would roll in smoothly, and I could focus on what I loved: building my business. But as anyone who has run a business will tell you, things are rarely that simple.
Despite having plenty of clients, cash flow was a nightmare. I’d send out invoices, and the waiting game would begin. A week would pass, then two, then three—nothing. I’d send reminders, sometimes two or three, and the same clients who raved about my work suddenly became professional magicians.
And I get it—people get busy, paperwork gets lost, payments get delayed. But when this became the norm rather than the exception, I knew I had a problem that wasn’t going away on its own.
The Point of No Return
One Tuesday morning, after spending more time than I’d like to admit obsessing over unpaid invoices, I realized this issue was consuming me. I was spending hours every week chasing payments instead of growing my business. My creative energy was spent on figuring out how to politely, yet urgently, ask for my money. I had become an unpaid full-time debt chaser.
Finally, after months of battling this uphill payment war, I hit my breaking point.
So, I swallowed my pride and made one of the most difficult but rewarding decisions in my entrepreneurial journey.
I hired an accounts manager.
Now, before you picture some grumpy guy banging on doors demanding money, let me stop you there. The person I hired was an experienced freelancer who specialized in managing small business accounts. She wasn’t aggressive, but she had a gift for making people pay on time. She sent professionally worded emails, followed up at the right moments, and somehow knew exactly what to say to get clients to prioritize payments without causing any friction.
Within weeks, I noticed a massive change. Clients who had been radio silent suddenly replied to her emails. Payments started to come in regularly, and, for the first time in a long time, I didn’t have to worry about chasing down money.
The Ripple Effect
Here’s what really surprised me, though. The biggest benefit wasn’t just the cash flow improvement (though that was a game-changer). It was the mental space it freed up for me. I hadn’t realized just how much the constant stress over late payments was draining me. Once that weight was lifted, I had time to focus on what really mattered—my clients, my strategy, and the future of my business.
I started dreaming again. I began working on new projects, refining my services, and thinking about how I could grow the business rather than just survive another month. It was like hitting the reset button, and suddenly, I had a fresh perspective on everything.
My Advice to You
So, if you’re reading this and struggling with something in your business—whether it’s managing finances, marketing, or even just balancing your workload—don’t wait until you’re at your breaking point to ask for help. It’s not a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of strength. It’s recognizing that you can’t be an expert at everything and that bringing in help doesn’t make you less of an entrepreneur—it makes you smarter.
Take it from someone who learned the hard way: asking for help saved my business, and it could save yours too.
