Good morning! Ready to start the week with purpose? This week, we’re diving into stories that are as heartfelt as they are inspiring. Today, we’re talking about the power of community - because when we come together, we can change the world, one step at a time.
Now, let’s start the day with a positive thought:
Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much
If a task or goal feels overwhelming on your own, seek out support. Even with personal goals, such as developing new skills or overcoming obstacles, working with others can make the process easier and more enjoyable.
So, let’s get started…
Before you decide if you want to help Rebika, please read her story below:
Rebika’s journey of hope and resilience
I hope you’re all well and taking a moment to cherish the little joys in life. Today, I want to share a story that truly touches the heart - a story of love, struggle, and resilience that unfolds in the narrow lanes of Jhuggi, right in the vibrant heart of Model Town.
Let me introduce you to Rebika. She’s just six years old, and her laughter has this incredible ability to light up even the darkest days. But beneath that infectious giggle lies a story that’s both heartbreaking and inspiring.
Rebika was born with a condition called dextrocardia, which means her heart is on the right side of her chest instead of the left. And if that wasn’t enough, she also has Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a serious heart issue that went unnoticed for far too long. Imagine the fear and worry that must have washed over her parents, Upendra and Deepti, when they found out.
Upendra, who works tirelessly to support his family, felt crushed by the diagnosis. How could he possibly afford the surgeries that Rebika needed?
And Deepti, working as a maid, was doing her best to make ends meet, but the thought of medical expenses felt like an impossible burden. Their dreams for a brighter future for Rebika began to feel like distant stars, flickering just out of reach.
But just when it seemed like hope was fading, something wonderful happened. They were introduced to the Child Heart Foundation (CHF). This organization became a lifeline for Rebika and her family, stepping in like a ray of sunshine. Once they learned about Rebika’s urgent need for help, CHF didn’t hesitate. They jumped in to provide the life-saving care that Rebika so desperately needed.
Thanks to CHF, Rebika was able to undergo her first surgery - an incredible turning point for their family. Over the next few years, Rebika faced several surgeries - each one a testament to her strength and the unwavering support of CHF. The organization covered everything: hospital stays, treatments, you name it. With each surgery, Rebika grew a little stronger and a lot more spirited.
Today, this vibrant little girl is full of life and curiosity. She still runs around the streets of Jhuggi, her laughter ringing out like music. And as her mother Deepti puts it, “Without the help of the Child Heart Foundation, we wouldn’t have been able to save her. They gave us hope when we had none.”
Let’s continue to support wonderful organizations like the Child Heart Foundation, walking alongside families like Rebika’s every step of the way.
Until next time, let’s keep spreading kindness and love!
